SKCR Committees

Board of Directors...

Purpose: 

  1. Setting strategic direction (to approve the outcomes that SKCAR is to accomplish), 
  2. allocating resources effectively and efficiently, and
  3. evaluating the progress being made to ensure that the desired outcomes are being achieved.

 

Business Practices Committee...

Purpose: 

The purpose of the Business Practices Committee is to provide programs designed to educate the members on current business practice issues affecting them, i.e., risk management issues, dispute resolution, technology, multi-cultural diversity & fair housing issues, profitability, legislative & regulatory, etc.  

In order to accomplish this task, the committee shall plan and implement appropriate educational opportunities for the members.  The committee also reviews, selects and educates the members on programs and services that will benefit their real estate business, i.e., E&O Ins., other insurance programs, & discount programs.

  • Cultural Diversity:

    Purpose: The purpose of the Cultural Diversity Sub-committee is to increase SKCAR’s efforts to:

    1. prepare members to work with new American and culturally diverse homebuyers;
    2. to understand their cultural differences and special needs,
    3. increase diversity in the real estate workplace and SKCAR’s membership, and
    4. expand diversity within SKCAR’s leadership.

 

Governmental & Public Affairs Committee...

Purpose: 

The purpose of the Governmental & Public Affairs Committee is to encourage participation among the general membership in grass roots political activity, to monitor local legislation affecting the real estate industry and to promote the REALTOR® movement and the Seattle-King County Association of REALTORS® to its membership and the public. 

Suggested sub-committee is: LIPAC/5,000 Friends of Housing  (See Section 2.7 of this manual.)  The committee also develops programs and coalitions that seek to improve housing affordability in King County.  They are further charged with encouraging support of candidates through SKCAR’s local issues program and RPAC.

 

Grievance Committee...

Purpose: 

The purpose of the Grievance Committee is to investigate complaints received from the public and members to determine if the complaint has sufficient substance and merit to warrant an ethics or arbitration hearing.

 

Professional Standards Committee...

Purpose: 

The purpose of the Professional Standards Committee is to be responsible for enforcement of the Code of Ethics through the conduct of ethics and arbitration hearings.

 

Member & Community Relations Committee...

Purpose: 

The purpose of the Member & Community Relations Committee is to work with the SKCAR Officers and CEO in setting directions and monitoring performance in the areas of membership development and relations, strategic alliance development and community relations.  
Subcommittee(s) are: Awards and First Citizen’s Award.

  • Awards:

Purpose: The purpose of the Awards Sub-committee is to develop award programs to honor achievement in the Seattle-King County Association of REALTORS®  and the community, to monitor those programs and select deserving recipients. 

  • First Citizen’s Award:

Purpose: The purpose of the First Citizen’s Award Sub-committee is to plan for and coordinate all aspects of SKCAR’s most important community relation’s event, where a deserving member(s) of the community is recognized for his/her outstanding community and civic contributions.

Operations Committee...

Purpose: 

The purpose of the Operations Committee is to work with the SKCAR Officers and CEO in the design and implementation of a program and fiscal performance monitoring process.  With the CEO, it is responsible for setting and reviewing financial and investment policies.  It reviews performance and reports both progress and challenges to the BOD.

 

Planning Committee...

Purpose: 

The purpose of the Planning Committee is to work with the SKCAR Officers and CEO in:

  1. the development of a strategic framework (mission, vision, broad directions, and strategic issues) for the Association,
  2. leadership development and nominations (to identify, solicit, nominate and train potential leaders for SKCAR),
  3. preparation of the annual operational (business) plan,  and
  4. preparation of the annual budget and program and resource development.

Sub-committee of the Planning Committee is: Nominations.

 ·         Nominations: 

Purpose: The purpose of the Nominations Sub-committee is to recommend to the membership candidates for officers and directors positions for the ensuing year.
