July 26, 2023
Matthew Chapman (Windermere East)
Volunteer Organization: REST (Real Escape from the Sex Trade)
REALTOR® Matthew Chapman believes that a community thrives when its members come together to uplift and support one another. In 2022, he and his wife donated over $75,000 to 6 different nonprofit organizations that work to empower vulnerable populations in the Seattle metro area—homeless youth, refugees, and trafficked sex workers. For his specific work with REST (Real Escape from the Sex Trade), Matthew has been named the 2nd quarter winner of the Good Neighbor Award.
“Being recognized with a Good Neighbor Award is an honor and a testament to the power of collective action and compassion in transforming lives and building a better future for all,” said Matthew, a broker with the Windermere Bellevue office. “Through these efforts, we have created positive change and transformed lives, making our community a better place to live.”
REST exists “to expand pathways to freedom, safety, and hope in order to end sex trafficking.” Through a continuum of services from a hotline and drop-in services to the REST Academy, REST helps survivors of sex trafficking stabilize their lives and embark on a new path.
Matthew Chapman donated $22,000 to REST last year to furnish safe houses for women in need, providing the comforts of home that are vital to recovery. He has also offered his time and expertise to produce promotional videos for the organization, amplifying their mission and creating awareness of their work through social media platforms.
To support the staff of REST, Matthew and his wife have offered their home as office space and a creative sanctuary when they need it. “By providing this inviting environment, we aim to inspire their vision and enhance their ability to carry out their vital work,” he said.
Join us in congratulating the 2nd quarter Good Neighbor of 2023, Matthew Chapman, for his dedication to vulnerable populations in our area! The Good Neighbor Award includes a $500 donation to REST, which was delivered by members of the Good Neighbor Committee on July 18, 2023.
