$51,000 in Scholarships Awarded to 2024 Applicants

The Seattle-King County First Citizen Scholarship Foundation is excited to announce that thanks to member generosity, 29 applicants will receive a 2024 scholarship, totaling $51,000. Scholarships are awarded to high school and college applicants, as well as our REALTOR® members, who demonstrate a commitment to community service. The Foundation has been awarding scholarships since 1999.
“Thanks are owed to each of the committee members who graciously dedicated their valuable time to the thorough review of scholarship applications, helping to recognize an exceptionally deserving group of students,” said Sydnie Taylor, Scholarship Foundation Chair. “Collectively, we were privileged once again to witness the fervor and dedication of a new generation of leaders who extend their time beyond personal interests, aspiring to cultivate a better tomorrow in our communities. These applicants have instilled a sense of inspiration and optimism for the times ahead. If they serve as any indication of the future, it is indeed bright, brimming with potential for positive transformations in our communities.”
The Foundation is awarding the $5,000 Dahni Malgarini-Logar Memorial Scholarship to the top-rated high school applicant, Antonia Kwan, sponsored by REALTOR® member Janice Kwan.
Out of several leadership roles in high school, Antonia's work to establish an elementary school tutoring program stands out. Having graduated from the inaugural class of Jing Mei Elementary School's Mandarin-English dual-language program, she knew personally that the students needed help practicing Mandarin outside the classroom. The resulting program has deployed over 100 tutors and serves 120 students weekly. Antonia will be attending the University of Washington in the fall.
Each year the Foundation considers naming a scholarship as a tribute to leaders within the Seattle King County REALTOR® community. This year the Foundation honors Dahni Malgarini-Logar, a broker at RE/MAX Integrity and a beloved leader in the REALTOR® family. Dahni’s work within the organization was comprehensive and always focused on bringing leaders forward. She led by example at the national, state, and local levels. The chief fundraising event for the Scholarship Foundation is the annual Battle of the Barristers, which is a fundraising event that brings members legal advice while benefitting the Foundation.
