REALTOR® Awards

Celebrating service in our local community

Seattle King County First Citizen Award

Sue Bird - Headshot

In 1939, years of economic hardship during the Great Depression had taken a toll on the spirit and morale of the people of Seattle. In response, REALTORS® sought to boost public sentiment and brighten our outlook by drawing attention to the positive community and civic work taking place throughout the region. To that end, the Seattle King County REALTORS® present the First Citizen Award every year as an expression of gratitude to those who devote themselves to the well-being and prosperity of our community.

The First Citizen Scholarship Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that gives annual educational scholarship awards to REALTORS® and their family members who demonstrate the ideals of the First Citizen Award.

The primary fundraising event for the Foundation is the Battle of the Barristers, an annual clock-hours class that features a panel of real estate attorneys analyzing relevant legal issues.
