The Best Way to Get Involved with the REALTOR® Association
A huge benefit of membership with Seattle King County REALTORS® is the community of brokers working toward our common goals. Get connected by joining a committee! Committees make recommendations to the Board of Directors and engage in other activities, such as:
- interviewing candidates for local office
- reviewing scholarship applications
- planning association events
- reviewing ethics complaints
- park restoration
- recruiting and nominating new leadership

Business Practices Committees
The Business Practices Committee develops REALTOR® educational materials on current business issues. The committee also reviews, selects and educates members on programs and services that will benefit their real estate business.

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee fosters inclusion in organized real estate by all communities. They educate the membership on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and how it can be utilized in the everyday practice of real estate. Learn more at nwrealtor.com/dei.

The Seattle First Citizen Scholarship Foundation reviews annual scholarship applications, selects scholarship recipients and designates scholarship amounts in keeping with the bylaws of the Foundation. The Review Subcommittee assists in this process by ensuring a broad and thorough evaluation of all applications.

The purpose of the Global Real Estate Council, recognized with a 2015 NAR Gold Award, is to support Seattle King County REALTORS® members who do business with global markets through education and networking activities, information sharing and involvement with select global real estate organizations. The Grievance Committee investigates complaints received from the public and members to determine if the complaint has sufficient substance and merit to warrant an ethics or arbitration hearing.

Professional Standards Committee is responsible for the enforcement of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics through the conduct of ethics and arbitration hearings.

Executive Committees
The Executive and Finance Committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors and perform such other duties, including oversight of program and fiscal performance, as may be requested by the Board of Directors. In working with the CEO, it is responsible for reviewing financial, building and investment policies. The Committee will meet on a regular basis prior to Board of Directors meetings.

The purpose of the Leadership Development subcommittee is to recommend to the membership candidates for officer and director positions for the ensuing year. The Committee shall actively recruit Board candidates who represent all REALTOR® communities in King County, ensuring a diversity of background, experience, culture, gender, ethnicity and geography.

The Planning Committee works with the Association Officers and CEO to develop a strategic framework for the Association. It prepares the annual operational plan and annual budget.

Governmental Affairs Committees
The Governmental & Public Affairs Committee encourages participation among the general membership in grass roots political activity, monitors local legislation affecting the real estate industry and advocates for the the Seattle King County REALTORS® to elected officials, community leaders and the public.

The purpose of the RPAC subcommittee is to help raise RPAC funds by soliciting items for fundraisers, assist in arranging items and set-up for fundraisers, encouraging members to participate in RPAC fundraisers, and encouraging members to invest in RPAC.

The purpose of The REALTORS® Environmental Council (TREC) is to select a site within King County for the annual environmental restoration project, encourage members to volunteer at the annual TREC project, and participate at the annual restoration project. The annual restoration project is open to all members, and families of SKCR members.

Membership & Communications Committees
The Affiliate Council represents members who are not engaged in the real estate profession as licensees, but have interests requiring information concerning real estate. The Council supports the objectives of the Association, represents the interests of the Affiliate membership, and provides a liaison to the SKCR Board of Directors.

The Awards Subcommittee develops award programs to honor achievement in the Association and the community. It solicits nominations and selects deserving recipients.

The First Citizen’s Award subcommittee plans for and coordinates all aspects of SKCR’s most important community relation’s event, where a deserving member(s) of the community is recognized for his/her outstanding community and civic contributions. The Member Services & Communications Committee identifies key strategies, challenges, and needs in-order to provide insight on membership recruitment, engagement, and retention. The committee will provide input and discussion for our website and social media platforms, and promote the many benefits of being a REALTOR®. The Committee evaluates and recommends services, such as insurance, product discounts and other affinity programs which may assist members in their real estate business.

The purpose of the SKCR-YPN is to engage members under 35 years of age in meaningful ways, by promoting the duty of service, by enhancing opportunities for professional growth, by providing avenues to association leadership, and by shaping policies that meet the needs of young real estate professionals. While SKCR-YPN promotes membership to younger brokers, there are no exclusions to any SKCR member who wishes to participate. Learn more at nwrealtor.com/ypn.
